New Primera LX2000 color label printer announced

Primera introduced the newest addition to their line of quality color label printers at the recent LabelExpo Americas. The Primera LX2000 improves upon past models by including large ink tanks (four individual CKMY ink cartridges) for lower cost per label, as well as a host of other exciting features.

The Primera LX2000 is the first pigment based inkjet printer offered by Primera Technology, and is powered by the latest inkjet print engine from HP.

While in the past Primera customers were limited to dye-based inks and the capabilities of the current Lexmark inkjet print engine based LX400 and LX900 models, the LX2000 now allows users to print GHS BS5609 compliant labels with their desktop label printer.

Primera’s CX1000 and CX1200 can print GHS BS5609 compliant labels with their laser print engines, however these printers are over $10,000 in cost. The Primera LX2000 is now available for preorder for just $3495. However, supplies will be limited, so it is critical to act now to take advantage of this exciting offer. The LX2000 will ship with both USB and Ethernet port and will allow for an optional wireless connection.

With the release of LX2000, Primera has offered serious competition to two previous front-runners, the VIPColor VP495 and the Epson GP-C831.

The VIPColor VP495 is listed at $3750, and similarly employs an HP pigment inkjet print engine, although a more antiquated version, which was developed over 10 years ago. This printer is able to produce 3.8 inches per second, significantly slower than the LX2000’s 6-inch per second printing speed. . Plus the LX2000 has larger ink tanks, therefore will have a lower cost per label in ink cost.

The Epson GP-C831 is available for $1995, and includes both USB and Ethernet connectivity. Currently the highest selling printer in this segment, the Epson GP-C831 provides a low cost solution for low resolution, industrial GHS label printing. The Epson GP-C831 is a tractor feed label printer that can print labels from 3″ to 8.5″ wide with resolution up to 720×720 dpi. While this resolution is slightly less than the VIPColor VP495, the LX2000 will still provide the highest quality resolution, with 4800 dpi printing capability.

If your organization is looking to increase productivity, DuraFast experts are available to help find the ideal printing solutions for your needs.
