Earlier this year, we posted about the top label printers of the decade. Who knew just a few months later that the world would transform so completely due to the coronavirus? We’ve had numerous businesses contact us about label printing. Many have started producing new products in response to the COVID-19 crisis such as hand sanitizer and face masks. They now need a fast, self-sufficient way to print their own labels — all without sacrificing quality and ideally at a reasonable price point.
With that in mind, here are some of the best label printers for printing COVID-19 labels:
Epson TM-C7500 (matte) / Epson TM-C7500G (gloss) — The Epson TM-C7500 is an outstanding pigment-based color label printer in general, but especially so for COVID-19 applications. The matte model prints the most durable, waterproof and chemical-resistant labels, making it a suitable label printer for printing hand sanitizer labels, disinfectant labels, pharmaceutical labels, patient wristbands, and more. The gloss version produces beautifully product labels on glossy media and is ideal for food service labels, baked goods labels, refrigerated food labels, beverage labels, hospital labels, security badges, hospital wristbands, and more. The Epson TM-C7500 and Epson TM-C7500G are desktop color label printers that print 4-inch labels at a speed of up to 12 inches per second.
Epson ColorWorks C6500A (auto cutter) / Epson CW-C6500P (peeler) — Epson’s newest 8-inch label printers are another good choice for printing large COVID-19 labels. These are pigment-based industrial GHS label printers that have replaced the Epson GP-C831 color label printer. They are ideal for large enterprises thanks to their remote management tools and integration features. They can also be used by smaller organizations to print a wide range of labels including large GHS labels, chemical labels, barcodes, carton and pallet labels, shipping container labels, and more. Whether you have barrels of disinfectants or smaller healthcare items to label, the ability to print labels ranging in width from one to eight and a half inches makes the Epson ColorWorks C6500 color label printer an extremely versatile COVID-19 label printer.
Primera LX500 — Smaller and home-based businesses are also helping support the coronavirus response. As such, the Primera LX500 has its place on our list of COVID-19 label printers. The LX500 is a compact, high resolution full color label and badge printer. Because it uses dye-based inks, its labels are not waterproof or chemical resistant. However, the color 4800dpi labels are exceptional. If you need to print product labels for face masks, PPE, homemade soap, vitamins and supplements, or employee or visitor’s badges in small quantities, you’ll want to take a look at the Primera LX500. The LX500 is also handy in the the shipping department for printing branded shipping labels.
Because volume, budget, label characteristics and other concerns vary, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer as to which of these color label printers is truly the best one for printing coronavirus product labels.
